The project proposes an unification of the existing school and its extension, creating a single building instead of two, so a natural unit instead of a forced duality. Thus, the character of the site is preserved and strengthened. The extension embraces the existing building as a sensible approach in both access and fluidity of distribution, qualityof the spaces and external image. The school yard and playground are also part of this unit into a coherent whole. The main entrance of the school becomes an event , offering a sequential scan from the public space to the teaching space. The existing building is fully integrated and school functions as a unified whole with a new face , modern and welcoming. The interior of the school is treated with an economy of means, using two main materials: exposed concrete and wood, a juxtaposition that creates a pleasant atmosphere and a warm environment. The covered courtyard is also part of the set in a harmonious way. The school hall is the place that best expresses the unity achieved by the project. With minimal intervention, the facade of the existing building becomes an interior wall in this space bathed in light and treated with regenerable materials.
