Mühlacker, 1997
Date | 1997 |
Emplacement | Mühlacker |
On a sloping terrain near the center of M?hlacker (Germany), an ensemble of 200 appartments is proposed, divised in 8 different buildings of 5 levels each, with two crossing appartments on the current levels and duplex appartments on the last leves. In order to preserve the character of the existing neighbourhood, essentialy made of villas, the buildings are decomposed to attenuate the impact of a too massive built volume. They are composed of two wings oriented on the direction of the natural slope, which allows a walking passage in beetween the two. The fluidity of the circulation, as well as the panoramic view towards the old town are privileged. A pedestrian axis crosses the new quarter (which is entirely pedestrian, the cars being parked in a general underground parking lot), having along the way small planted squares. An existing kindergarten was preserved and rehabilitated.
