The central square of Cluj, with the cathedral of St. Michael dating the XIVth century, where some Roman ruins were also discovered, had to be reorganized in order to be able to welcome festivals, concerts, public meetings, etc. We proposed to create a second front of shops on the boarding streets, in order to strengthen its commercial vocation. The roof of this new built front falls down towards the square and a series of gardens are created below, at the level of the archaeological site, connected by stone staircases with the level of the square. Facing the Cathedral, huge lampposts give rhythm, enlighten the square, and a system of cables allows to tighten a removable roof which will allow the holding of the public happenings even in bad weather.
