Daegu Gosan Library

The building is composed of several stacked glass prisms in order to fit into the neighborhood scale. It is completely detached from the ground, only the two Entrances and the Reception Lobby are located on the ground floor. Thus, maximum natural green space is preserved. These glass prisms are parallel to the four sides of the site. The reading rooms and the service areas are clearly separated. In the middle is a patio with a pond planted with bamboo. The exterior teak decks serve as outdoor reading spaces and are partly planted. The roof is fully planted and serves as reading space and playground for children. Nature will "enter" the building through the large windows and become a major element of the architectural composition.
